Is the first orthodontic consultation free?
Yes. Your first visit with Dr. Sepi Torkan at our Seattle or Redmond office is free. We’ll examine your teeth and bite, take precise 3D digital scans with our iTero scanner (no messy molds), and explain your options, timeline, and costs. Most first visits take 30 to 60 minutes, and you’re under no obligation to begin treatment.
At what age should my child first see an orthodontist?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first check-up by age 7. At this age, Dr. Torkan can spot developing bite or spacing problems early. Most children don’t need treatment right away. Many simply come back for periodic check-ups until the timing is right, which can help avoid a second round of treatment later.
Am I too old for braces or Invisalign?
No, there’s no age limit for straightening your teeth, and a growing number of our patients are adults. Discreet options like Invisalign clear aligners and ceramic braces let adults improve their smile, bite, and oral health without drawing attention to their treatment. Orthodontic care can also fix problems like uneven wear from grinding.
Should I choose braces or Invisalign?
It depends on your bite, your lifestyle, and your goals. At iSmile Orthodontics we offer traditional metal braces, clear ceramic braces, Invisalign for adults, and Invisalign Teen. Braces work well for complex cases and don’t depend on the patient remembering to wear them. Invisalign is nearly invisible and removable. Dr. Torkan will recommend the best fit during your free consultation.
Do you accept insurance and offer payment plans?
Yes. iSmile Orthodontics is in-network with Delta Dental, and we’ll verify and bill your orthodontic coverage for you. With or without insurance, we offer interest-free monthly payment plans spread over your treatment. We also accept all major credit cards and offer special pricing for families with more than one patient in treatment.
Where are your offices located?
We have two locations. Our Seattle office is at 4026 NE 55th St, Unit A105, Seattle, WA 98105. Our Redmond office is at 8575 164th Ave NE, Suite 201, Redmond, WA 98052. We see patients from throughout Seattle and the Eastside, including Bellevue, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Queen Anne, Capitol Hill, Green Lake, and Wedgwood.
Why should I see an orthodontist instead of my general dentist?
An orthodontist has two to three years of additional specialty training beyond dental school, focused only on straightening teeth and correcting bites. Dr. Sepi Torkan is a board-certified orthodontist. That means she has voluntarily completed the American Board of Orthodontics’ rigorous exams, a credential held by a minority of orthodontists.
What should I do if I have a problem with my braces?
Call the office for your location right away. We handle orthodontic emergencies like broken brackets, poking wires, and loose appliances, and we’ll get you seen promptly.
